Exploring Our New Home

Adam and I joined a group at our church called Mom's Connection. They have lots of events during the week for moms and kids to enjoy together. It's been a good way for Adam and I to meet friends, and has also helped us to discover some of the fun "kid" places around our house.

Adam has been really into his tools lately. He'll be running out the door and all of a sudden stop and run back to pick up a tool to bring with. Here he is all ready to go to the park with his rake.

Yeah, he pretty much loved the park.

Another outing at the farm. Adam loves going here. That's his new friend Ian in the background.

Ahoy!

Phil and I really miss boating with the fam back in Minnesota. We got to show Adam what it's all about thanks to our friends Brett and Wisty, who have a boat here in Virginia. It was so fun to be out on the water and enjoy time with friends. We boated down the Potomac and picked up some dinner at Potbelly - Yum! We could see Mt. Vernon and the Washington Monument from the water.

I know, Father of the Year, right? Beer in one hand, baby in the other.
PS. Please don't yell at me for Adam's lack of life jacket. We got on the boat and realized it was too small and he was not a happy camper.
Driving with Mr. Brett. I promise he was having a good time - I don't know what's up with his face here.
Hanging out by the Potomac.

The water was so smooth! What a great night!

Listen Up!

Adam has an announcement to make!

That's right! We are expecting a new addition to the Swenson family and Adam is going to be a big brother! It's still very early (baby #2 isn't due to arrive until late February), but we are VERY excited.

Adam doesn't really know exactly what's going on yet, but he loves his new shirt :)
I can't wait to see him being a big brother.

Just a couple more pics of Adam and me after some time in his kiddie pool.

Mr. Eyes

I will never get over how great this kid's eyes are! What a handsome boy.

Mom, you're embarrassing me! Stop taking all these pictures!

Our First Garden

Another thing that Phil and Matt have done during Matt's visit is to put in a raised bed beside the deck. We have wanted a little garden for a long time, and although it's not much, we're excited to plant some herbs and tomatoes. More pictures of the garden will be coming soon - the beans and tomatoes are really growing!

Someone else was hard at work, too.
His latest thing: drinking from his water table. Nice.

I don't know if you can tell from this picture, but yeah, he's completely soaked and loving it.

Ever since he saw Elmo watering plants on Sesame Street, he's been really into it. I got him his own little watering can so he could help in the garden.

She's Sick!

Phil and his brother took the Cavalier - my very first car - purchased in 2003 when I graduated college - fondly named "Curious Cav" by my students in California - and went fishing last Saturday. Imagine my dismay when she arrived home looking like this...

The poor guys got stranded in the middle of no where (before even getting to fish!) and had to be towed home.
Have no fear - after a few lessons in auto repair and a few tool purchases later, Phil had Curious Cav purring like a kitten once again.
Thank goodness!

Visitors

Hello, everyone! I know it's been a bit since I last posted, but we've been having fun with some visitors.

Uncle Matt has been visiting and Adam has been loving it.

Up high!
Adam showed Uncle Matt his dancing.

Baby foreclosure?

Our good friend Miss Katie also visited us while she was hunting for a house. Her family moves here in a few weeks - and we are so excited! I have only known Katie a short time, but she has become a very good friend. She cooked us dinner while she was here, and of course, the crazy picture lady was snapping photos while she cooked us yummy chili and corn bread.
This picture cracks me up!

Our next visitors will be Grandpa and Grandma Swenson - Yay!!!
Call to schedule your visit soon :)
