Places I Like to Sit

Adam loves his new chair we got him. It's great since it even matches our family room furniture.

He got straight to work reading his books in the chair. He has started to "read" them himself. He babbles and points to some key features, turns the page and does it again.

Enjoying some sips with Dad. "Cheers, Adam!"

He loves to sit on his rocket while I'm in the shower. I have no idea why he is so excited about showing me the fuzzy he picked up off the floor. Maybe he's telling me I need to vacuum.

Come On In!

Ok, Everyone! Here are some pics of the inside of the house! I was there on Saturday for the inspection, so that's when I took most of these photos. Please excuse the WHITE walls and "interesting" decor. We're very excited to make it our own and add some color!

Home. Here is the front, just to refresh your memory after the last post. Four bedroom (with an additional craft room in the basement), two full baths, two half baths.

Here is what you see when you walk in the front door. It is nice and bright and I love the color of the wood. If you go left upstairs, you find the master bedroom and what will be the guest room. If you go right, you will find Adam's room, Adam's bathroom, and the office. That door on the left downstairs is a coat closet. If you walk down the hall to the right, you will reach the family room, garage entrance, and basement steps.

To the left when you come in the door is the living room, which leads into the dining room.

Standing in the living room looking into the dining room and doorway to the kitchen. PS, that dining room light fixture is not long for this world.

Standing in the doorway to the kitchen, looking backwards from the dining room into the living room. Those look like french doors, but they are actually jumbo sized windows. Lots of light, which we love.

Kitchen. Lots of counter space, all appliances stay.

Another view of our kitchen (and our home inspector, Tom). The double doors on the left open to a big pantry.

Standing in the family room looking into the kitchen. There is an eat-in area there with a big bay window. The door next to that lovely dead plant leads out to the deck.

Standing in the eating area looking into the family room. Fireplace is wood-burning.

Kitchen leads to a little hallway. Family room is on your left. Door on the right is a half bath, door on the left is garage, door straight ahead (open) is the basement. If you round the corner to the right, you'll be back in the entry way.

Basement. There's a storage closet to your right that you can't see, and that area there on the right is laundry and utility. This space will be Adam's playroom. If you round the corner in the back of the basement, you find a half bath and a little room that will be my craft room - yay!

Master bedroom. Phil tells me that I'm overly excited about decorating that space up there above the dresser. How cute will that be, though?! That's our realtor, Olga, in the hallway - she is awesome! The door on the left is the walk-in closet, and the master bathroom is to your left (you can't see it).

I kind of felt bad about photographing these people's things, but here is the master closet.

Master closet, part II.

The deck out back.

There you go! Hope you enjoyed. We're so excited and can't wait to have visitors!

Our First House

After many trips out to DC and five offers, we finally have our first house! We are so very excited - already thinking about painting. It hit me tonight that this will be the first house that Adam remembers. Pretty cool. Here is a sneak peak - start planning your visit! God is so faithful.

A Bit of the Outdoors Comes Indoors

Adam was pretty surprised today when some of that fluffy white stuff we've been talking about so much here lately turned up in his kitchen. Adam loves snow, but is not too big on the cold, so I figured this was the best solution for this stir crazy mama and her boy while Daddy was out of town this weekend.

Workin' hard with all his "tools."

It was a bigger hit than I thought it would be, and kept him entertained for over an hour!

Mama was busy too. I thought about going to get some toothpicks for arms and digging up some other pantry items for a face, but I didn't want to get too out of control. Is it sad that I still want to do it? How cute would that be?! I know. Sad.

Everyone wanted in on the action.

And then we made this discovery...snow is cold - but edible!

Another fun day with my boy!

Meeting Up at the Creation Museum

Grace had a weekend field trip with her class to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. When I discovered that the museum is only about an hour from our house, I was so excited to drive down and meet Grace there. Sadly, Phil was out in DC looking at houses AGAIN, so he couldn't come with us, but Adam and I had a great time. The museum is very well done, and it was so cool to learn about God's creation and to see a museum devoted to such a ministry. I wish we could have stayed a lot longer, but I pushed Adam to his limit as it was - we arrived at the museum at the exact time that he usually goes down for his nap. He even sat through most of the planetarium show (he loved the lights and movement). What a trooper!

Adam patiently waits for Grace's bus to arrive at the museum.

Grace with some of her friends. They were so nice and were all excited to see Adam and me.

Sisters! Grace and me waiting for the rest of the group to arrive for lunch.

Don't worry, though. He woke up with plenty of energy to play with Aunt Grace a little bit!

By the time we got back home, he was ready to just relax with some sips and his new dinosaur from the museum.

Sorry, not too many pictures. Most of my energy was spent keeping Adam going while visiting with Grace and her friends. It was so good to see her - I wanted to bring her home with me!

The Back Forty...in the Basement

Just wanted to share this with you. We were over at a friend's house today and Ethan was SO excited to give Adam a ride behind his tractor in the basement. Adam was in heaven and probably could have sat in the little trailer for hours (I don't know if Ethan would have kept pedaling, though.) Adam is finally old enough to really play with friends, and he had a blast with Ethan and Andy today. I think he needs an older brother.
